Skip Uber! Try InDriver instead when in Mexico. InDriver is an app that is prefered by Mexican drivers, so there are typically more cars available. More money goes to the driver compared to Uber. And you can get a ride in places where Uber drivers typically cancel or the app says “no cars available.”
InDriver is based on a bidding system. So you offer a rate for your ride and nearby drivers can either accept your offer or bid against you. You’ll usually get a few replies very quickly so that you can choose the best offer.
InDriver can work with a credit card, but drivers prefer cash, so that’s what I do. Just be sure to have close to exact change and people in Mexico cannot typically break a 500peso note!
The problem with InDriver is that if you’re new to an area, you don’t know how to set your starting bid. But you can use Uber to find a reasonable bid. It’s a bit more of a process, but if you’re living in a city, you’ll quickly learn the proper starting bid to get to common destinations.
Are you using InDriver? Or a different Uber alternative? Or maybe Uber? Let us all know in the comments below.
