I took the Aguila bus from La Paz to Cabo and had a great experience. The buses are very nice. Long distance buses in Mexico are so much better than Greyhound buses in the states. The schedule was almost hourly on Aguila. There was an ABC bus doing this same route, but it was less often. Both companies have luxury buses.
The bus station in La Paz is in the middle of the Malecon. In San Jose del Cabo, it’s about a mile walk into the main square. And in Cabo San Lucas, it’s a couple miles from the water.
I compare this to the Eco Baja Tours small buses which are about $30 (compared to $15 on the bigger Aguila bus.)Eco Baja is faster
Aguila has more daily trips
Aguila has a bathroom on the bus
Eco Baja tours stops for a 15 minute stretch / bathroom break
Aguila has super comfortable seats vs Eco Baja is hit or miss on the seats
Eco Baja operators speak English
Aguila goes to San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas vs Eco Baja goes to the SJD airport
The main long distance bus terminal is on the Malecón in the center of downtown La Paz. But Google Maps shows a couple other locations. Two terminals are places I’ve never seen in real life, so I’m not sure what these are. There is also the bus terminal where local buses stop in downtown – with the bus to El Centenario stopping about 1 block away. I noticed on Google that there is a bus stop for buses to La Ventana. I didn’t know there were buses to La Ventana, and I can’t confirm if this is accurate.
For locals traveling to San Jose del Cabo, the Aguila buses stop on Forjadores in the 8 de octubre neighborhood, too. It’s a very small building that can be hard to spot, but it’s a great option as it can save time. I believe that Eco Baja buses stop here too – but many that’s only if someone buys a ticket in advance.
