Smoking in Mexico: BANNED 2023

As of January 2023, the Mexican government has banned smoking in all public places. If you want to smoke, you need to do it at home. It remains to be seen how well enforced this will be.

Overall, I’ve experienced very little second hand smoke during my time living in Mexico. Much less smoke than I experience in the United States.

Cigarette’s are cheap, but buying them might be a little harder – cigarettes cannot be sold in view of the public – they must be hidden behind the counter.
