John Andersen is living in La Paz Mexico, and in this video, he shares how his intermediate Spanish skills have opened doors into a more rich experience. It’s possible to live in Mexico without speaking Spanish. Mexican people are generally very kind and accepting of others. And they will help you get by. But if you want to have a rich experience in Mexican culture, you will need to learn at least intermediate Spanish.
I’d say that I’m a novice Spanish speaker. I have a couple of tenses and a good vocabulary and I can understand native speakers if they speak slowly. But if you want to get invited to the best fiestas, you’ll need to have a better command of the Spanish language.
